Sunday finally came earlier than expected, it was a quick thanksgiving outing at All Saints Cathedral Ikoyi, the priest was a no-nonsense man when it comes to time management and the celebrants' Hon. and Mrs Akintola were most grateful for that.

At about 2:00 PM that day, the Lekki mansion of the celebrants was filled to the brim. Hon Seun Akintola was a popular politician, a man who ventured into politics at a young age of 30.

Described as a man with the “golden heart”, a philanthropist to the core. Bimpe, on the other hand, has proved to be a selfless and loving wife who stood by her husband all through his political offices and now as the State Secretary of the ruling party, strongest in the country.

It was a long day for the couple, beautiful speeches were made by friends. There was a lot of drinks and food to go round, as the catering was done by Kach’s catering Services, the most popular catering outfit on the Island.

Bimpe was looking glamorous in her dress, she didn’t look her age one bit, and she was just too pretty. It was this attribute that made Hon. Akintola, when delivering the vote of thanks to look at her and say “my curvy lekpa, my wife for 25years and my friend for 28 years. I am so happy I married you, happy birthday”.

The response he got was a long hug followed by a kiss, and applaud from the guests. They were in love, as a couple and as each other’s best friend.

At about 6.30 AM, the guests had all left, remaining the party’s Chairman and his wife who were specially entertained by her husband. She needed a break, and she felt the kitchen was the best place to begin from, a nice cold glass of milk to start with.

On getting to the kitchen, she saw Bola typing in her phone with all seriousness. “Bola dearie” she called out smiling, Bola dropped her phone, went to her and they hugged “happy birthday my second mummy, I love you to the moon and back,” said Bola.

“I love you too my only daughter and thanks for today, don’t know how I would have fared without you since my boys are away” replied Bimpe. “Has Dapo called you now?”.

“he just sent a message wishing you a happy birthday and apologizing that he won’t be coming till next week and am so happy about it,” Bola said smiling. “Are you telling me you don’t miss him one bit?” asked Bimpe..

Bola looked at Bimpe faking a smile. ”It’s your day, let’s not talk about me and Dapo. Tell me about your love story, am sure I will learn a lesson or two”.

“Wow! My love story, exactly 28years ago, interesting one I must say, but I will tell you about my friend, Funke. She was very close to your mum and me.

“Really!” replied Bola, “and she had never made mention of her”. “She travelled immediately after graduation, we haven’t seen her since, her love story is one that will interest you,” Bimpe said. “You will still tell me yours later right?” Bola said winking.
